BIPOC Books as Windows: Windows are stories that provide a view into the experiences, cultures, and identities of others. When children read books that feature characters from backgrounds and cultures different from their own, they gain exposure to different perspectives and experiences.

One of the many benefits of including BIPOC books in any library, whether at school, public, or home, is the positive impact it can have on children’s literacy.

Representation doesn't have to be limited to serious or heavy topics. It's also important for children to see and read about Black characters who experience joy and happiness.
